Newcastle 5 – 1 Sunderland

I spent the whole weekend in the build up to the Derby game feeling both nervous and excited. In all honesty I thought the game would be a draw after a very close and tight affair – but that could not be further from what happened! The lads went goal crazy and outplayed Sunderland all over the pitch!

The first goal from Nolan a very cheeky and well finished overhead kick was just a brilliant way to settle some nerves, although they did still remain until he got his second goal! Which sparked mental scenes inside St James Park. It was relief as well being two goals up was a dream really, we could relax a little bit! Everyone was jumping all over, hugging each other. Good times! But then getting a penalty with the last kick of the third goal really did send us all into dreamland. Shola Ameobi stepped up to hit a fantastic pen into the back of the net! Half time was dreamland! Everyone singing and jumping around the stadium.

Titus Bramble’s return to St James Park was cut short when less than 10 minutes into the second half he received a red card for bringing down Andy Carroll. Then the Toon went on to score 2 more goals and put us in a fantastic mood being 5 up against the old enemy. With still 20 minutes to play it looked like we would just keep scoring. But that didn’t happen and in pretty much the 90th minute Darren Bent grabbed a consolation for the red and white’s with his only chance in the game . . . well actually he had another just after he scored but that one didnt hit the back of the net.

Possibly THE derby day to end all derby day’s I don’t think it could get any better than that scoreline or performance. We all were saying throughout the game how bad Sunderland were and their fans really must be furious with the total lack of effort the players put in on the day.

The DJ added to the occasion by putting on Daydream Believer at the end so we could sing to Steve Bruce (which had been going on throughout the game). “Cheer up Stevie Bruce . . . o what can it mean to a sad Mackem Bastard and a s**t football team”. What a way to end the day!

Get in the lads!!!
