Newcastle 4-1 Blackpool

The second last home game of the season saw Blackpool come to St James Park, with a lot of support in the bright orange shirts. Taking at least 3,000 tickets. With a chance of still making the play-offs we were half expecting this to be a slightly more difficult game but in the end that wasn’t meant to be. Again the pressure of playing at St James Park got to the away team who couldn’t really do much.

We only had to wait until the 12th minute when Jonas Gutierrez ran at the Blackpool defence and put the ball in the back of the net, cue the spiderman celebration! We seemed to have a couple more chances but had to wait until the 36th minute for Andy Carroll to double our lead. We went in at half time 2 up.

The second half started off pretty much as the first half-finished with us having a lot of possession and we hit the post twice. Lovenkrands really was not meant to score at all on the day. It was in the 62nd minute that Kevin Nolan added the 3rd, he has been in brilliant form in the last few games. Lets hope he can make that step up back in the premier league. Wayne Routledge who had been having a good afternoon, his pace proving difficult to handle again scored in the 77th minute with a brilliant finish which went in off the far post.

The party is well and truly still going, Blackpool getting a consolation goal in the 85th minute didn’t damper anyones spirits. Had to laugh at the Blackpool fans singing “we’re gonna win 5-4”.

One more win and its Fizzy Pop winners 2010? Possibly . . . lets lift the trophy on the last home game of the season against Ipswich on 24th April.
