Former Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has signed for New Zealand side Wellington Phoenix. Making over 200 appearances for Newcastle, since leaving in 2016 Steven had a brief stint at American side Portland Timbers and has played for Ipswich Town and Peterborough United before making his new move at the age of 32. Capped at England youth level and up to U21s, I always enjoyed seeing his progress after breaking through as a teenager.

Today is 2 years since Sir Bobby Robson passed away and he will never be forgotten.
Yesterday on Twitter everyone started to change their avatars to a picture of Sir Bobby. I done the same, and have been watching the DVDs I have of him and videos on YouTube. He was a brilliant man, a football man and loved by all fans of the game.

On Monday night . . . at the furthest possible place . . .we beat Plymouth 2-0 to become champions of the Championship and win the league. We will be presented with the trophy on Saturday after our final Championship home game (hopefully we will not have one for years and years to come) against Ipswich Town.
Goals from Andy Carroll and Wayne Routledge secured the win for the Toon who were dominant throughout the game. This condemned Plymouth to relegation. But did not stop them playing “We are the champions” from us! Along with “Blaydon Races” and “Local Hero”. The Toon Army invaded the pitch to celebrate!
The second last home game of the season saw Blackpool come to St James Park, with a lot of support in the bright orange shirts. Taking at least 3,000 tickets. With a chance of still making the play-offs we were half expecting this to be a slightly more difficult game but in the end that wasn’t meant to be. Again the pressure of playing at St James Park got to the away team who couldn’t really do much.
