Running: Great North Run 2018

Last year I fell back in love with the Great North Run and it made me realise I could push harder with my running. So from that I did the Run Everyday in January challenge, Manchester and London Marathon’s in April and then the Sunderland half marathon and Gateshead 10k. Two events that I have added to my yearly events list. So in the build up towards this years Great North Run I was feeling tired. That is the easiest way to sum up how I have been over the past two months. July and August were a struggle as my legs always felt heavy when I was out running. Something I was so gutted about as in June I was back down to running 8:30 minute miles over long distances.

Running: New York Marathon

I will be running in New York City in November this year to take part in the marathon. Some how I managed to get picked in the draw for the 2018 run! This is the second time I had put my name down to do it, even crazier that I got an email earlier this week because my payment card wasn’t right. Luckily I quickly changed that and will be running an international race!

R.E.D January 2018!

This was a truly fantastic challenge which pushed me to the limits both physically and psychologically. The challenge was to run every single day in January, the limits were not set but I did give myself them.

I had to run at least 1 mile each day, mainly due to time restrictions so that I could get the miles in basically. I had intended to use the days where I ran one or two miles as recovery runs but that was not the case and I ended up running them rather quickly instead!

London Marathon 2018

That’s right something totally crazy happened and I somehow got into the London Marathon again via the ballot! After completing my first marathon in 2016 which was London I will be back again for 2018.

Might have been a little bit better if I hadn’t signed up for Manchester a couple of weeks before the ballot results, I therefore have two marathons within 3 weeks! So you are going to see a lot of blog posts about training!

Running: Great North Run 2017

In the build up to this years Great North Run and my 7th year taking part I have been doing a lot of running. Not as consistent as I would like but it is tricky to fit in at times with working hours etc. But I guess I really did not realise how much this was going to play a part on the day until I was actually running.

Things I’ve done since the London Marathon!

Since the truly incredible experience of completing my first ever Marathon I have since done quite a lot of run related things!

  • New Running Trainers!

The first was to buy some new running trainers, as mine had clocked up a lovely 311 miles (just in running, not counting the many walking miles on cool downs home). So I had been looking at the Adidas Boost collection and instead of forking out £130 and not being sure, I decided to head to an Adidas outlet and lucky enough they had some in and I got a pair at a bargain price of £35 which I thought was perfect to test out and then look to get some more in the future!
