A terrible goalkeeper error from Willy Caballero led to a very embarrassing 3-0 defeat for Argentina to a truly outstanding and incredible Croatia side with Luka Modric and Rakitic leading them with amazing skill and finishes. Modric looked more than up for it and drove the team forward with his brilliant first touch and clever play a very impressive display.
When his country needed him the most Messi sulked and disappeared not behaving like a captain and world class player, will he actually score a goal in this World Cup? Well, he could only have one game left in it and I am guessing will retire from international football for the second time. Very disappointing attitude with his lack of effort.
Willy Caballero is currently at Chelsea transferring from Man City and he has always looked a liability. In this game it was no different he was getting away with bad decision making for way too long and playing very short passes to his defenders playing everyone into more trouble. So when his mistake happened I certainly was not surprised, here is a text message I even sent to my brother during the first half and then his reply as the goal went in.
Not taking away how fantastic Croatia were as they really did show some brilliant play and team work. They work for each other and at the back they were solid, although they didn’t have a massive amount to deal with as Argentina couldn’t keep the ball anywhere on the pitch which meant Sergio Aguero and Messi hardly touched the ball.
