Prem: Manchester City 4-0 Swansea City

Last night we saw the first and only home win of the opening set of fixtures in the Premier League. Most of the results were draws with a couple of away wins. The match started off very slowly and let’s face it everyone was waiting to see Sergio Aguero in action for the first time, but he was on the bench. So everyone would have to just wait to see him.

The game started at quite a slow pace and Man City did not really dominate the game as everyone would have expected. Swansea done well in keeping possession for a lot of the first half, but didn’t actually do anything with it. But managed to keep the score to 0-0 thanks to goalkeeper Michael Vorm, who really did keep pulling out the saves.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half Man City got the breakthrough when Edin Dzeko opened the scoring with a poachers effort, after keeper Vorm could only parry the ball into his path. The introduction of Sergio Aguero in the last half an hour saw Man City really take it to Swansea when on his club/league debut he managed to score 2 goals with an assist for David Silva in between them.

This is a debut that everyone is going to be talking about for sometime, 38 million price tag to live up to and let’s face it not a bad way to start. An inspired choice in my dream team? Well I would think so but it seems everyone has chosen the Argentinian in be in there dream team as well!

I think this game had to send out a message to the rest of the Premier League that Man City are going to be contenders this year, as they really did show some good football at times. Yes it was a game against the Prem new boys in Swansea but still an important way to start the season for Man City. Welcome to the big time Swansea! They will want to forget this game as quickly as possible.

We could only dream of having a player of that quality to play for Newcastle United. In related NUFC news Wayne Routledge made his debut for Swansea coming off the bench last night. Although I cannot really remember him having much of the ball.
